OTTAWA (AFP) - A former Canadian defense minister is demanding governments worldwide disclose and use secret alien technologies obtained in alleged UFO crashes to stem climate change, a local paper said Wednesday.

‘I would like to see what (alien) technology there might be that could eliminate the burning of fossil fuels within a generation … that could be a way to save our planet,’ Paul Hellyer, 83, told the Ottawa Citizen.

Alien spacecrafts would have traveled vast distances to reach Earth, and so must be equipped with advanced propulsion systems or used exceptional fuels, he told the newspaper.

Such alien technologies could offer humanity alternatives to fossil fuels, he said, pointing to the enigmatic 1947 incident in Roswell, New Mexico - which has become a shrine for UFO believers - as an example of alien contact.

‘We need to persuade governments to come clean on what they know. Some of us suspect they know quite a lot, and it might be enough to save our planet if applied quickly enough,’ he said.

Hellyer became defense minister in former prime minister Lester Pearson’s cabinet in 1963, and oversaw the controversial integration and unification of Canada’s army, air force and navy into the Canadian Forces.

He shocked Canadians in September 2005 by announcing he once saw a UFO.

Remember those gigantic power-generating columns built by aliens on Mars in Total Recall? I think they’re being hidden beneath Al Gore’s house.

Hmm, Hellyer could be in trouble — all the other UFO folks think Global Warming is a hoax.

I’m concerned that such a patent nutjob oversaw major reforms to the Canadian military. No wonder they’ve become notorious as global easybeats.

I’m concerned that we have this asshole facist showing up on our forum lying about the climate and every fucker too desensitized to it to get irate with him.

    Lambert.

You got that evidence for the likelihood of catastrophic warming yet?

Graeme, you have your view, Tim has his view. Very simple. I don’t much care, but as soon as CL put this up in the open thread I figured it deserved a post of its own… cos it’s funny!

So funny is the go, eh! (Spoken like a true Queenslander).

A likely story, Tim. I just image-googled “Al Gore” and “alien”. It seems he forgot to delete all of his personal snaps when he invented the internet.

Although they do have the record for longest confirmed kill by a sniper

Just tried to stick that pic up on the post, CL, but for whatever reason it started fighting with the purply-blue UFOs. Will have to cease and desist.

    Skeptic that’s just wrong.

Worrying about warming in the middle of an ice age is more stupid then this UFO business.

And Lambert’s views are honest views honestly held and communicated.

He’s a liar and he has not evidence for any of this.

Skeptic do you have any evidence for the likelihood of catastrophic warming? No you don’t. Well neither does Lambert.

This is very foolish of you equating the two of us. He has no evidence yet he continues with this nonsense of his. Much less reasonable then this UFO guy who is probably authenically delusional and thinks he’s seen a UFO.

“Graeme, you have your view, Tim has his view. Very simple. ”

No that’s wrong Skeptic. Tim is just grossly dishonest. And he has no evidence.

    That’s the difference.

One side’s ideas are totally ridiculous and they don’t have a scrap of evidence. And that’s the alarmist side.

Why are you messing this up so badly?

Were you playing hooky when science class was happening?

Be fair, Graeme. UFO simply means an Unidentified Flying Object. Many have been seen over the years by quite reputable people, it’s just the assumption that all UFOs are alien vehicles that’s the big stretch (she says, speaking as someone who spent six months working with Uri Geller on a paranormal magazine….)

Please be a little more polite to the Canucks. They have been in the thick of it recently in Afghanistan, and have had more than 40 soldiers killed in firefights with the Taliban. Their history hitherto however was not so rosy.
