Missing Link is now available over at Troppo, and because our email notification service is currently busted, I thought I’d better let y’all know. Among other things, it’s got a great round-up of the huge Ayaan Hirsi Ali interblog stoush that’s been going on around Ozblogistan.

SL, I think Kim’s attempt to link unwarranterd foreign interventions with trenchant criticisms of the removal of a young girl’s genitals with a pair of scissors is a totally flawed argument and morally reprehensible.
An appallingly misjudged post on her part.
Harry
I don’t think she realized what she was saying until it became apparent that she had really screwed up.
Forgive and forget.
Should we ban her, Harry?
I agree with JC. We all write shockers, and I suspect one of the learning lessons for people like Kim (and, indirectly, Tim Blair), is that feminists come in all shapes, sizes and politics.
I’ve long argued that feminism sits more naturally with liberal individualism than it does with collectivism, particularly once the nexus between law and oppression has been formally broken. Ali is very much a part of that ‘individualist’ feminist tradition.
Putting Bone and Ali together was silly. Kim’s second post focussed on the issue that got everyone’s dander up, and has been very effective at draining the anger out of the debate.
Jesus people are getting worked up about the whole thing skeptic it won`t go away…IMHO I think Kim should have let it rest for a while.
