I’ve got a piece in the January-February 2008 ‘bumper’ issue of Quadrant, which – I understand – is just out. As I road-tested the ideas therein on Catallaxians, the least I can do is tell you where to find the final version.
I’ve also taken some pretty decent Hogmanay photos, although my failure to bring a camera cable with me means you’ll be waiting for a day or so at least to see them. Sorry about that…
UPDATE: Jason’s boss, Henry Ergas, also has an excellent piece in the same issue. Highly recommended.

While we’re on Quadrant, my boss also has a piece in this issue

Same issue – excellent. Two reasons to go buy, people
Good to see Henry giving “The Beard Mach II” a bit of a serve.
It’d be interesting to read both pieces side by side, although Henry’s is very thorough.
Loved Henry’s piece. He does a terrific barbecue.
Bird, we’re up to Mach 1V with Gillette razors, dude.
In fact Gillette Fusion is here:

There’ll be twenty blades eventually. None of you blokes’ll have chins by then
I’m sure you realise this. But I think of Castro as “The Beard Mach I.”
The piece by Henry Ergas was very well reasoned. He has a very clear way of articulating the issues and considerations.
Congratulations Helen, pity your contribution is not on line, like Henry’s (looking forward to reading that at leisure) and Peter Coleman’s alarming piece on the factions in the NSW Liberal party.
Quiggin has posted an answer to Ergas.
