I just can’t get over this picture of a lion enjoying himself on a “wall of death” ride in a sidecar. He looks like he’s having so much fun. Apparently this was taken in Massachusetts in 1929. Seriously.

This is pure gold
I have a cat who enjoys riding in the car. She stands up and watches everything going past the window.
JC, I am thinking that she would have an expression just like that lion in the picture.
My parents’ dog hates riding in the car. He’s a Jack Russell, and he hates it when cars overtake us. Jack Russells are so damn competitive.
Once I had to drive him to the vet with him standing on my shoulders (he escaped from his doggy seat belt and it wasn’t easy to pull over at that point). Driving with a yelping dog on your head is not a good look.
It can be tough if you don’t have a box or someone to hold on to the animal.
Especially when the cat decides she absolutely has to know what’s happening down around your feet …
Yes, on another occasion, the dog escaped onto my lap and beeped the horn repeatedly at people, as I pulled over…very embarrassing. He didn’t get down to the floor though - rather difficult to drive in that circumstance.
What I want to know is how this happened. Someone got up one morning and said: I’m gonna ride my car really fast around a cylinder and I want a lion riding shotgun.
Well some people know how to have fun don’t they.
Lion does look like he’s enjoying himself. He looks very peaceful, like he’s out for a Sunday cruise.
That is exactly what I am thinking? How did someone come up with the idea?
Maybe one guy said to another, “I’m going to ride around the wall of death”, and the other said, “Why don’t you take my lion, he’s a real daredevil, loves a bit of a spin in a sidecar…”
The mind boggles.
