This KAL cartoon from The Economist is a beauty too … the dragon is SOOO polite… and it’s so much more relevant with the falling greenback than it was in 2007 when first published.

When I used to go to China in the early 90s the street stalls were selling watches said to have been given to the PLA troops who cleared Tianamen Square on 4 July. I did not buy.

When I was in Russia in 1993 I did buy a red army badge. I couldn’t resist. But no – I wouldn’t have bought a PLA watch – ugh.
Ah yes, unpleasant adventures in tourism, parts 3 & 17. It’s a little like the squeegee boy DEM and I copped outside Auschwitz when we were in Poland.
