That means ‘long may your chimney smoke’, for those who don’t know Scots.
I’ve noticed over time that Hoyden About Town’s main bloggers tend to be anachronistic in their views of past times. The entire Victorian period was dismissed with a modern snort at “Victorian values”. The gratingly anachronistic 1941 gay dance and kiss in Torchwood was praised instead of being condemned for not being true to the period It’s easy to look at another period in history and congratulate ourselves on how we’re so much better today. And because it’s easy, that’s what they do.
All the best to you, DEM. Also, if you don’t mind, please send some of your rain down to South East Australia, which is as dry as a nun’s sense of humour at the moment.

Of course, these days – if it does smoke – I suggest not advertising the fact. Or, if you do, make sure it’s in a sort of inconsequential plain format, but with horrendous pictures of the effects of such behaviour upon your fellow inhabitants of Earth.
Gemma that’s interesting. I suggest you punish HAT soundly by refusing to read anything posted on that site ever again. I’m sure they will be quite mortified. Also, what is your view of Spider-Man The Movie? Do you think the hyphen is maybe a non-essential arachnism?
