I’m reminded again of this clever Dave Walker cartoon. Check out the cranky atheists in comments!

Also be sure to check Dave’s site, he’s got one of the nicest blogs out there I reckon:

My father was a meanie with doorknockers. He told the Mormons we were Jehovah’s Witnesses and told the Jehovah’s Witnesses we were Mormons. It worked a treat, it was like our house had been marked with the religious equivalent of a white cross in plague time.

    That’s a great cartoon.
However I don’t think it’s just a matter of laughing at yourself.
I think it actually makes a good point. Atheism is a non-belief. So it cannot be equated with religion which is actually a set of philosophical-type beliefs.
What I’m getting at is that religious apologists often make general claims about atheists. eg/ atheists aren’t as happy as religious people. Or atheists are more likely to be drug addicts. That type of thing. I don’t believe this should be done because atheism isn’t an ideology. It just means you don’t believe in the existence of God and tells you very little else. eg/ Atheists could be realists, idealists or sceptics, monists or dualists, socialists or capitalists, empiricists or rationalists or a mixture.
