Descent With Modification

About a year ago, someone sent me the graphic below. If you were that someone, please let me know in the comments so that I can credit you properly here. It’s a very handy thing to have, and manages to convey how ideas evolve in a nice neat way. It doesn’t contain the latest Nobellists, but that’s no mind. It helps to cluster names together in ways that make sense.

    I especially like the way this chart makes the link between Karl Marx and the British classical school explicit.

    SL: Quite. Although another way of putting that is that Marx represents outdated economics, missing the marginalist revolution 🙂

    Though, I would argue Marx’s conception of the labour theory of value is rather different than, for example, Smith’s.
